Comprising 15 premium apartments in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, MHNDU’s Anden brings art deco into the contemporary age.
The complex holds a range of 1, 2 and 3-bedroom apartments, as well as two penthouses. Sustainably designed, the design language of the former 1930s block has been retained, and elevated by MHNDU’s sustainable design.
“With Anden, we have retained the original art-deco building façade and added a new architectural identity featuring quality sustainable craftsmanship that resonates with Coogee’s relaxed coastal feel,” says developer Central Element’s Managing Director, Nathan Chivas.
Dangar Barin Smith’s communal open space serves as a key feature of the project. The space unfolds through a series of tiered lawns and a feature grove of cabbage tree palms along with a wellness centre complete with fitness floor, yoga space and an Italian-designed infrared sauna.
Handling the interiors, Lawless & Meyerson have looked to create fluid floorplans bathed in natural light that open out to terraces or private courtyards depending on the residence.
The tonal palette is a mirror of its coastal standing, with natural stones, marble, oak timber flooring, concrete and terrazzo paired with stylish high-end appliances and tapware.
