Created for Parks Victoria, Harrison and White + Archier’s Albert Park Office and Depot provides the government body with a commercial precinct and depot space that embodies its mission and work.
Crafted to be sustainable and functional, the building possesses a high level of amenity and efficiency. Greenery is utilised to shade and cool the building, while boosting wellbeing and activating its presence.
A courtyard sits at the centre of the precinct, bringing the park to Parks Victoria. The courtyard allows for ventilation and light to thrive, and is used as a place of connection and meeting for occupants. Able to be accessed by the public, the courtyard is equally verdant and versatile.
Timber and concrete are utilised throughout the interior and exterior, with CLT used for the upper-level structure. Elements are purposely exposed to ground the building and reaffirm its earthy textures.
The building is bounded by a concrete seat that allows for users to look out towards the park. Bringing landscape to the centre, Harrison and White + Archier have looked to create a space worthy of Parks Victoria’s standing in the federation state, amplified by the use of coarse, unrefined materials.
