Melbourne based design firm Techne Architecture + Interior Design has been engaged by Lendlease to create a new state-of-the-art sales and leasing centre for their Victoria Harbour developments. The new sales centre is located on a site central to Victoria Harbour’s most recent developments, offering dual frontage to Collins and Bourke streets and proximity to the 888 Collins Street visual light display.
Lendlease’s creative brief for the centre required Techne to step away from the traditional sales set-up, and design a space that would capture the project’s vision for the future precinct through a series of interactive and immersive installation zones. The 300sqm interactive customer experience centre will aim to bring to life Lendlease’s ongoing regeneration of Victoria Harbour by seamlessly integrating design theatricality, virtual reality and digital displays.
Techne director Justin Northrop explained that the design of the sales centre needed to articulate the potential experience to the customer, in the absence of a tangible product and in a constantly evolving location.
Drawing on the studio’s hospitality expertise, Techne’s design emphasises human connection and the customer experience. Successfully balancing commercial functionality and innovative design, the centre communicates the lifestyle that Victoria Harbour will provide while outlining a clear sales journey for the Lendlease customer. This has been achieved through immersive design features including a 20-screen media wall, interactive digital scale model, theatrical ceiling light display, and a large-scale Lego model of the Collins Wharf masterplan.
Design highlights also include detailed sculptural installations defining zones within the space, dynamic lighting programs attached to the ceiling light display throughout creating ambience with flexible day-to-night modes, and use of recycled timber, stone and fabric to showcase the project’s sustainability initiatives, also aligning with Victoria Harbour’s status as the greenest precinct in the Southern Hemisphere.
