Charter Hall has been confirmed as the developer for a major office project coming up on the historic Adelaide GPO site. The $235 million project is designed by Hassell and Fitzpatrick & Partners, and will feature two office towers of 20 and 15 storeys.
Located between King William Street and the Australian Taxation Office building on Franklin Street, the 24,500-square-metre development will see construction begin in the second quarter of next year. The design pays tribute to the heritage-listed Telephone Exchange and GPO buildings. The taller 20-storey tower will be designed to achieve 5 Star Green Star and 5 Star NABERS energy ratings.
The precinct will also include about 3000 square metres of retail space. The public space within the site will allow opportunities for activation. Placement of retail and food and beverage frontages has been determined based on existing and potential movement patterns.
The office development already has its first tenant with the South Australian Attorney General’s department taking a 12-year lease in the building.
