QuARTz by ACO ShowerChannel and Flag grate were recently specified for the new wards built as part of the $26M Geelong Hospital expansion.
Delivering a full range of health services from emergency care, acute care, primary care and aged care to rehabilitation, mental health and community services, Geelong Hospital, VIC also provides speciality services for cancer, heart and lungs.
The hospital’s expansion included three new wards with 80 beds requiring separate ensuites.
According to ACO’s design brief, each new ensuite required efficient shower drainage to prevent flooding as well as possible build-up of hair and soap scum in the drains. The drainage needed to facilitate easy and efficient cleaning by hospital staff and also be securely installed into the vinyl floor.
QuARTz by ACO ShowerChannel and Flag grate featuring an integral custom-made vinyl clamp system were supplied for the hospital’s new bathrooms.
The large openings in the Flag grates allow shower water to pass through easily without flooding. ACO custom engineered the vinyl clamp system to provide a secure joint between the vinyl floor and the stainless steel channel. The ‘V’ profile of the shower channel additionally ensures liquid does not stagnate at the bottom, preventing odours and also enabling easy cleaning.
