Marine floating floor systems from Acoustica work by damping the highly resonant steel or aluminium floor structure of the craft and removing the energy from the resonant vibration. In this way these floating floor systems control noise transmission.
The floating floor system is constructed from three layers of viscoelastic damping membranes. These are combined with a needle punched sound absorber made from polyester matting and two layers of marine ply. In contact with the steel floor of the craft this floating floor will effectively dissipate the vibrational energy.
The level of damping can be adjusted to increase energy dissipation in particular vibration modes. This will mean that the response of the structure driven at a resonant frequency can be greatly decreased reducing the overall motion or acceleration of a system or product.
