Stackadoor 200 track systems from Brio helped architects Searle x Waldron transform the Art Gallery of Ballarat into a versatile and flexible function space.
The Art Annexe in the city of Ballarat, Victoria was designed to be an enclosed area for lectures, workshops, art installations, community functions and opening nights with the flexibility to also be used as an open air stage for festivals and public addresses.
The architects achieved this flexibility by adopting three hybrid postures of a public hall, a verandah and a band stand, and using Brio’s Stackadoor 200 hardware for the operable glazed panels, which fully open on to the adjacent Alfred Deakin Plaza and heritage precinct of Camp Street.
Designed for interior and exterior stacking panels in both residential and commercial applications, Brio’s Stackadoor 200 track systems can stack panels weighing up to 200kg at a 90° angle or parallel to the opening. Each panel is supported by two hangers, which can negotiate swept switches in custom made stacking bays to suit the application on one or either side of the opening. A floor channel is not required since each panel is secured into position by flush bolts and locks.
