To keep up with testing and treatment of the fast-rising amount of Covid-19 cases in Australia, a number of temporary clinics were required to be built at break neck speed.
Manteena Commercial Pty Ltd were commissioned to build a full functioning clinic that could be packed up, stored, and rebuilt wherever the building was required. They needed products that were in stock, hygienic, hard wearing, safe and fast to install, and re-usable.
Manteena approached Master Carpets who helped source the right materials for the job. Having worked with Altro for many years, they chose to source their materials from a reputable brand they know and trust, who could provide the best products for such an important installation.
Altro XpressLay , the world’s first ever adhesive-free safety floor was chosen for the fit-out. Revolutionary Altro XpressLay is a step change in the evolution of safety flooring that can save you money on materials, time on installation and offers you unrivalled sustainability credentials. It’s installed using a tape system instead of adhesive and can be easily removed post-installation, re-used elsewhere and then at the end of its life be recycled. The range boasts 30 colours, featuring bright and subtle, sparkle-free designs and decorative chipped options to give you a huge selection to choose from.
Rod Mitton, Project Director at Manteena knew that Altro XpressLay would be the perfect product for the job from the get-go.
“Due to the tight program and the requirement of the brief for the building to be easily relocated, we required a resilient flooring product that required little floor prep as well as having the flexibility to be rolled up and relayed in the future if required. Altro XpressLay was the only product available on the market that was able to meet this requirement”.
Richard Palmer, Master Carpets was very pleased with how the installation went forward, from start to finish.
“Master Carpets was given the opportunity to provide an essential service to the community and support the construction of the Aspen Medical COVID clinic. We installed 1800m2 of flooring over 5 consecutive nights. The Altro XpressLay system was the only way to achieve this challenging project timeframe, including working with other trades and a cold Canberra climate. The end result was a defect-free installation, satisfying all stakeholders in supporting the needs of the community during these uncertain times”.
The centre was built in 37 days, from breaking ground to a full functioning facility.
