Altro Transflor safety flooring was installed in 54 Desiro RUS series trains supplied by Siemens to support the expansion of the regional transport infrastructure in Sochi, Russia.
The flooring specification was different since the Russian trains were wider at 3.5 metres. Additionally, strict regulations were in place with regard to hygiene, durability, slip resistance and passenger safety.
Altro Transflor safety flooring was specified for the trains as it met the performance requirements. Siemens has now installed more than 18,000 square metres of Altro’s safety flooring in regional trains.
Key advantages of Altro Transflor safety flooring include unique composition and processing protecting the subfloor of the train from humidity; 2mm thickness providing high durability; sustained slip resistance of TRRL >36 complying with Class R10 to safeguard passenger safety; and long-lasting durability contributing to reduced repair and replacement costs.
Marion Rimkus, Category Manager at Siemens in Krefeld-Uerdingen, Germany explained that they were familiar with Altro's quality flooring products from previous projects. He added that the suitability of Altro's flooring for the specific conditions in Russia played a crucial role in their specification, especially with regard to the national fire safety requirements, in addition to its long service life and durable slip resistance.
