ASKIN Performance Panels was contracted to manufacture, supply and install XFLAM panels at the new Drakes Supermarkets Distribution Centre in Adelaide. Drakes Supermarkets operates a network of more than 50 stores across South Australia and Queensland.
As Australia’s largest independent grocery retailer, Drakes Supermarkets sought to build an $80 million distribution centre in the northern suburbs of Adelaide. The 17-hectare site is located at Edinburgh North. The new distribution centre would have the capacity to house approximately 23,000 separate lines of products including grocery, dairy and frozen foods.
Large quantities of XFLAM insulated panels totalling about 22,000 square metres were specified by Drakes based on their performance at the recently completed PFD Food distribution centre in VIC. Being an Australian owned and locally manufactured product was another advantage.
The Drakes Distribution Centre is the largest XFLAM panel project in South Australia to date. The fire resistant panels were installed at the distribution centre over a period of 16 weeks with up to 16 installers on-site at any time. The insulated panels were installed for freezers, chillers and a confectionary room among others.
All the work performed by ASKIN met the IPCA Code of Practice.
