ASKIN Performance Panels worked with the Melbourne-based Valley Pack Cold Storage to help build ‘Controlled Atmosphere’ rooms at their new facility in Shepparton, Victoria.
Specialising in providing cold storage and international logistics services to producers of perishable commodities, Valley Pack Cold Storage needed a new facility to be built next to their existing premises in Shepparton to meet the needs of their growing business.
A key objective of the new project was to build multiple Controlled Atmosphere (CA) and freezer rooms with a hermetic seal, in accordance with FM approved building standards to meet insurance requirements.
Controlled Atmosphere or CA rooms are required to be 100% airtight to allow for the concentrations of oxygen, carbon dioxide and nitrogen, as well as the temperature and humidity to be regulated. The project needed an FM approved panel system, with the rooms built in compliance with FM standards.
ASKIN was brought into the project during the very early stages of development, with Valley Pack liaising with the ASKIN Engineering, Design and Drafting teams to assist with designing a building that met their needs, while ensuring conforming building products were correctly specified.
ASKIN manufactured and supplied 5000 square metres of XFLAM Interior walls and ceilings. ASKIN’s XFLAM panels with their superior joining system and stable R Values meant the CA room standards sought by the client were achieved.
The panels were installed by Richardson Coolroom Construction as per ASKIN’s design, which had IPCA, NCC and FM compliance.
