Project Overview
Sunbury Aquatic Centre required an indoor heated pool added to their existing facilities. The warm water pool would benefit all pool users, including those who have had to head out of town to access rehabilitation. The plan was to build several disability compliant features and two spa baths, something that would benefit the community.
The Challenge
The environment of an indoor swimming pool is aggressive due to both the temperature, humidity in the air and the chemicals added to the water. It was important that the materials used were corrosion-protected to ensure the longevity of the aquatic centre.
Solution
The solution was ASKIN Roofing and Exterior Wall Panels with the 200 Plus Internal Skin. The 200 Plus coating integrates plastisol technology making this an ideal product to withstand the corrosive elements found in an aquatic environment.
The all in one Roof and Wall Insulated panel system, combines ceiling and interior wall finishes with a 200 micron-coating that is eight times the thickness of standard colour steel coatings. It is extremely durable, abrasion- resistant, providing excellent colour retention and corrosion resistance for the lifetime of the building.
Result
The build was completed on time, and all involved were happy with the result. The community has welcomed the therapeutic and rehabilitation facility at the Sunbury Aquatic Centre.
