A Mornington Peninsula-based construction company used Foamular XPS insulation
from Austech External Building Products to enhance the benefits of the rammed
earth construction technique.
Artisan – Builders Rammed Earth Victoria is a specialist in stabilised
rammed earth construction, a building technique that delivers multiple benefits
relevant to modern building design. When used with Foamular extruded
polystyrene insulation (XPS), the sustainability, fire resistance, thermal mass
effect and aesthetic appeal are all enhanced significantly, thanks to the
efficient insulation barrier between the external and internal walls.
Construction Manager Matthew Hawthorn found that Foamular XPS met all
his criteria for a high performance insulation product. Being a closed cell
rigid board, Foamular offers very high moisture resistance, long term thermal
performance and high R-value for thickness (75mm – R2.67).
