Australian Disabled Access Consultants was instrumental in arranging disabled access for fit-out of the Janani Indian Restaurant fit-out at 608-612 Liverpool Road, Strathfield South designed by Planspec Building Designers of Dundas, in Sydney’s western suburbs to provide disabled access into and within the ground floor restaurant with an updated accessible toilet.
Australian Disabled Access Consultants provided disabled access design advice to require disabled access compliance with the principles of the Disabilities Discrimination Act 1992, Strathfield Council’s Development Application approval, Parts D3 and F2.4 of the Building Code of Australia for a class 6 building, the Disability Access to Premises Standards 2010 for a class 6 building and Australian Standard AS1428.1-2009 (general requirements for access – new buildings).
The disabled access and wheelchair access guidelines for:
- continuous safe pathway of travel throughout the restaurant
- continuous safe paths of travel from the basement carparking level and the open ground level common parking area
- building entry doorway
- doorway widths and circulation areas
- redesign of the accessible toilet
- floor-ceiling heights along all movement pathways.
