Australian Urethane & Styrene Pty Ltd (AU&S) manufacture and cut a variety of foams, including polystyrene, polyurethane, polyisocyanurate and other speciality foams. AU&S has worked with customers with varied requirements including packaging, building and construction, insulation, movie and stage sets.
For out of the ordinary needs Australian Urethane & Styrene have an apt range of speciality foams including:
Flexible Foams such as Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) and Polyethylene (PE). These foams are comparable flexible foams, with EVA being slightly softer and having a better compression recovery while PE is slightly firmer. AU&S stocks 45kg/m3 and 60kg/m3 EVA and 30kg/m3 PE. EVA & PE are typically used in custom transportation boxes and applications where a durable impact absorbing material is required.
Australian Urethane & Styrene special effects foam, is a polyurethane designed specifically for use in the movie and special effects industry. SE foam is ideal for performance sets where explosive charges are present due to its ignition and fire retardant properties. Like regular urethane, it can be carved and cut with hand tools to create the appropriate structure.
SE foam has been used successfully in a number of major motion pictures. Floral foam from AU&S is coloured foam for use in floral arrangements. The spongy malleable properties of flower foams allow flowers to be set into it. It is available in a grey or green colour.
Phenolic is the foam of choice when fire hazards within structures must be kept to a minimum. Phenolic, unlike other plastic foams, has a minimal effect on the overall fire hazard of structures in which it is installed, while still providing good thermal insulation properties.
