Big River Group has launched a new Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC) product, MaxiWall in the Australian market. Offering a more sustainable replacement for traditional masonry, MaxiWall also delivers improved thermal and acoustic performance to the build.
The nationwide launch of MaxiWall follows Big River Group’s acquisition of Adelaide Timber & Building Supplies (ATBS) earlier this year. The brand was previously available only in South Australia. A specialised local timber and lightweight building products supplier, ATBS has enjoyed substantial growth and success with the MaxiWall brand, primarily in the multi-residential and detached dwelling market.
MaxiWall is a cost-competitive Autoclaved Aerated Concrete product that allows an entire exterior to be completed in a fraction of the time required by more traditional choices such as rendered brick or block.
Big River Industries Managing Director Jim Bindon says the cost-effective AAC will expand masonry choices for builders and consumers. AAC products are already popular in the Australian construction industry; therefore, MaxiWall supported by Big River’s national distribution network including 11 outlets, is expected to take a leading position in the Australian AAC market in the next three years.
MaxiWall is recommended for low-rise external and party wall applications as well as high-rise external and internal wall systems. Builders using MaxiWall panels can benefit from faster construction times and decreased site costs, as their light weight makes them safer to work with and easier to install.
For the homeowner, MaxiWall delivers a more comfortable living experience due to superior fire protection, insulation, and soundproofing qualities. The acoustic qualities particularly make the AAC product highly suitable for multi-residential housing as well as semi-detached and terraced houses where soundproofing is critical.
Key advantages include high thermal resistance, four times greater than standard house bricks, reducing energy consumption for heating and cooling; excellent acoustic insulation, up to seven decibels greater per surface area than other solid building materials of the same weight; external render finish keeping the wall protected from the harsh Australian climatic conditions; fire resistance up to 1,200°C with product classified as a 100 per cent non-combustible building material, achieving a two-hour fire rating when installed with approved systems; and Australian Codemark Certification, and also fully compliant with current Australian Standards.
MaxiWall is a pollutant-free building material, sourced from world class production facilities using German technology and automated processes to ensure every panel is of optimum quality and consistency. MaxWell helps reduce around 30 per cent of environmental waste compared to traditional concrete and 50 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions.
The registered brand is wholly owned and exclusively distributed in Australia by Big River Group.
