Innovative formwork solutions from Big River Group contributed to cost and time savings during the construction of the Fiona Stanley Hospital in Perth.
Designed by architecture firm FSH Design Collaboration with construction management by Brookfield Multiplex, the Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) was built at a cost of $2 billion to deliver world-class standards in healthcare. At 150,000 square metres in area, the FSH is equal to four city blocks and represents the WA government’s largest ever building infrastructure project.
Featuring a central circulation 3-level void space with multipurpose areas, the hospital comprises of health, education and research facilities. Building highlights also include 6,300 rooms housing 783 beds with 140 specialised rehabilitation beds, and 3600 car spaces.
The project was completed in 2014 and opened in a 4-phase sequence.
Big River’s innovative formwork solutions resulted in significant time and cost savings for this major project. Executed by formwork contractor G&N Formwork, Big River products used in the project included Armourform F14, Armourform F17, Truform LVL and structural plywood.
