Big River Group introduces ArmourCab, a smart new engineered wood product designed specifically for cabinetry and joinery applications, and available in three native timber species. ArmourCab is recommended for applications requiring durability, stability and impact resistance in a decorative hard or softwood finish, along with a matching edge strip.
ArmourCab builds on the success of Big River’s Armourpanel plywood that’s widely used for flooring, ceiling and wall lining applications. ArmourCab now allows architects and builders to create cabinetry and joinery products in the same timber.
Jim Bindon, Managing Director of Big River Group explained that their customers constantly wanted to create joinery items from Armourpanel due to its beautiful and unique look; however, given its distinct strength, it wasn’t an easy thing to do. Big River then decided to create the cabinetry version with ArmourCab, which now offers a stunning yet practical choice for appearance grade cabinetry and joinery applications in both residential and commercial projects.
Key features of ArmourCab engineered decorative wood panels include high tolerance to extreme heat and humidity; resistance to shrinkage; high-quality aesthetic; choice of three native timber species – blackbutt and spotted gum for hardwood applications, or hoop pine for softwood; variations in colour and texture ensuring unique installations; 16mm moisture resistant MDF (MRMDF) core with a 1.0mm timber face bonded to each side to form a strong, solid and stable panel; and standard panel sizes of 2400x1200mm, 2400x600mm, 2000x1200mm, 1800x1200mm, and 1200x1200mm.
The panels are manufactured in Big River’s Grafton facility and supplied uncoated for custom finishes. ArmourCab is available through the company’s nationwide distribution network across 13 of the major populous areas of Australia, including Sydney, Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Townsville, Illawarra, Melbourne, Hume (ACT), Adelaide and Perth.
