BlueScope Steel has extended their COLORBOND® steel range with the addition of a new Matt collection in five colours. The elegant matt finish on COLORBOND®, Australia’s favourite steel building material for over 50 years, complements the latest building design trends.
Achieved using a new paint technology to deliver a naturally inspired finish with a textured designer look, COLORBOND® steel Matt is available in Surfmist Matt, Shale Grey Matt, Dune Matt, Basalt Matt and Monument Matt.
Lisa Dent, Manager of Marketing and Market Development at BlueScope explains that the COLORBOND® steel Matt paint technology was developed to give the industry a highly attractive and versatile design material to complement more natural looking materials in both residential and commercial buildings. The new COLORBOND® steel Matt collection provides architects a range of neutral hues and a colour palette with the depth and versatility to adapt to many building types.
Recommended for roofing and walling applications, COLORBOND® steel Matt was recently used by Flightpath Architects on the new Investigator College Senior School in Victor Harbor, South Australia.
Spread over an area of 2049 square metres, the Senior School’s two-level structure is located on the far south-east corner of the Victor Harbor campus, overlooking the oval and existing middle school buildings to the north.
According to James Plunkett, Senior Architect at Flightpath, their brief was to help showcase excellence in education – beginning with a well-designed building. The new COLORBOND® steel Matt finish was being used for the first time in a major Australian project. Plunkett explained that he preferred to use the COLORBOND® steel Matt finish because of its subtlety, attractiveness and ability to make a statement. As a cladding material, COLORBOND® steel gives the impression of continuity and makes the building seem all the more deeply embedded within its context.
Designed for Australian conditions and tested for over a decade, COLORBOND® steel Matt maintains its Matt finish, looking even better for longer. COLORBOND® steel Matt is manufactured in Australia and is compliant with the relevant Australian Standards.
Key features also include BlueScope’s unique Thermatech solar reflectance technology, preventing heat from getting absorbed by the cladding on hot sunny days; and BlueScope’s industry leading metallic coating incorporating Activate technology to provide enhanced corrosion resistance.
Manufactured by BlueScope, COLORBOND® steel Matt is backed by a variety of warranties of up to 36 years for peace of mind.
