When Nick and Carol began the renovation of their Barossa Valley home, reconfiguring the layout of the bathroom to make it more user-friendly for their family of five was a top priority.
Being the only bathroom in the home, they required plenty of space and storage; creating a large main bathroom with separate powder room for the toilet was the perfect solution to achieve their objectives.
Nick and Carol shared the transformation with us and explained how the Caroma Urbane range was integral to bringing their bathroom sanctuary to life.
Q & A with Nick and Carol
What were the key features that you wanted for the new bathroom?
We wanted a bath for the children and double hand basins so that more than one of us can be using the bathroom at the same time. It needed to be easy to clean with minimal glass and we didn’t want something that would date quickly.
How did you collect your inspiration?
We looked at design websites and magazines and spoke to other people about what they love and don’t in their bathrooms.
The biggest help for us was going to the Caroma showroom. Our whole bathroom was designed around the bath so it really helped to view it before we purchased. The consultants were very helpful, giving us inspiration and discussing options to find the best layout to suit our family.
How would you describe the look of your new bathroom?
Minimal, simple, elegant, crisp and very user-friendly. It was designed and built around our family and allows more than one person to be in the area at one time. Lots of people have told us it’s very big!
Where have Caroma products been used? Why were these products chosen?
We chose all our products for the main bathroom and powder room from the Caroma Urbane range for a uniform look throughout both rooms. We also decided to use products from the same range in the kitchen and laundry as well, to keep things consistent and minimalistic throughout the home.
What was your biggest restriction? How did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge we faced was the shape of our bathroom. Being rectangular, not square, meant we needed to use products that fitted into the space without restricting the flow and ensuring we still have a lot of floor space.
We initially wanted a freestanding bath but ended up choosing a back-to-wall bath as it gave us the look we wanted from the front and side but was narrower for the space. We love it, it’s the best thing we did! It’s the hero piece and a lot of people comment on it.
What do you love most about your new sanctuary?
The colour palette, plus all the products and how they are all matching. The Caroma Urbane range was perfect for us to achieve this.
