Leading Australian developer Riverlee has installed a first-of-its-kind intelligent bathroom management system from Caroma at a new End of Trip facility in Parkville, Victoria.
The growing population in Australia is exponentially increasing the demand on water supply. Riverlee has joined the campaign to combat water wastage by adopting Caroma’s Smart Command system at their new EOT facility located at 369 Royal Parade Parkville. A nod to Riverlee’s core value of sustainability, the installation of Caroma’s Smart Command tapware and toilet will enable real-time remote monitoring, management and control of water use at the EOT facility.
Riverlee Director Kristine Lee said Caroma’s Smart Command not only significantly reduces water wastage, but also vastly improves efficiency across the building.
“A major benefit of Smart Command is the significant reduction in water wastage, leading to improved building efficiency and improved stock and inventory control management.
“We receive live water usage data, which allows us to monitor and control information before it circulates back to an integrated Building Management System. This system can help to identify maintenance and safety issues within the building such as water leaks, power failure or product faults while providing an overall usage of water.
“By providing insight into how and when facilities are utilised, such as which basin is the most popular or which toilets experience the greatest demand, Smart Command can inform future design of buildings.”
Dr Stephen Cummings, Innovation Director for Caroma and inventor of Smart Command predicts a 55% increase in Australia’s water demand by 2050.
“While advancements in smart technology have transformed our ability to monitor and manage other critical resources and functions in digital buildings, such as power, lighting and ventilation, similar opportunities in commercial water management have yet to be unlocked – until now.
“Five years in development, I am excited that our latest breakthrough innovation, Smart Command is ready to address this new beginning in sustainable building management and unlock a new sustainability and innovation, cost reduction and customer experience opportunity for developers, facility managers, architects and plumbers,” he said.
Caroma’s Smart Command intelligent bathroom management system is set to be adopted by commercial operations such as airports, shopping centres and hotels in their washrooms.
Riverlee will be rolling out the Caroma range across all of their commercial wet area refurbishments, paving the way for monitoring and managing water usage within the Australian property sector.
