Leading industry experts participated in the 2nd Annual Environmental Management Seminar and shared their learnings with delegates through a series of presentations.
Jointly hosted by Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia (CCAA), IQA and the Queensland Department of Environment and Heritage Protection, the industry seminar held in Brisbane in September last was attended by about 140 delegates from across the quarrying, cement and pre-mixed concrete industries. The audience also included a number of senior officers from the state's environmental regulator.
The event, which focused on a number of environmental issues relevant to the industry, was opened by State's Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection, Hon Dr Steven Miles MP.
Informative presentations were made on environmental regulation, weather and climate forecasting, managing stormwater, energy efficiency, and fire-ants by a series of industry experts including eminent climate change specialist and researcher, Professor Will Steffen.
Delegates also participated in an interactive facilitated group work session discussing current and future environmental matters.
