Volcano Stone, a pre-painted aluminium product exclusive to Craft Metals was installed as cladding on The Mill Apartments in Eastwood NSW.
Designed by Marchese Partners Architects, the apartments are built on a restored site, formerly known as 'The old Brickworks' in Eastwood. Vacant and deserted for a number of years, the site was an unproductive wasteland until 2006 when the quarry was finally filled using recycled excavated materials from the Epping to Chatswood railway tunnels. The site was completely restored and a residential apartment project was planned for up to 255 lodgings.
Created with green living in mind, The Mill Apartments sit amid a serene green landscape full of parks, shade and places to sit and relax.
Craft Metals aluminium cladding was used for this project for its 100% recyclability and corrosion resistance, with these characteristics making it perfect for the harsh Australian climate. Volcano Stone pre-painted aluminium is lightweight and its PVDF/PE coating is resistant to UV light and chalking, making it weatherproof and low maintenance for the life of the project. The pre-painted finish is comparable to darker tones of titanium zinc with all the benefits of zinc cladding minus the cost.
The aluminium cladding was installed by Architectural Roofing and Wall Cladding.
