Criterion Industries supplied several aluminium systems for the interior works at the LaTrobe University Bio-Science Laboratory, Bundoora Campus.
Designed by Lyons Architects, the Biosciences Research Centre (AgriBio) in Melbourne is a 30,777m² complex constructed with a budget of $185 million.
AgriBio accommodates up to 400 staff from the Victorian Department of Primary Industry and LaTrobe University including scientists, students, and business and science-support staff who specialise in plant and animal genomics, plant pathology, animal health and agricultural sustainability.
Design highlights of the research centre include an open foyer featuring a large glass atrium; a dynamic staircase; seminar rooms with views of the surrounding landscape; a café and commercial spaces; an open plan office space; flexible laboratory spaces with moveable laboratory benches; and labs, animal houses, glass houses, screen houses and post-mortem facilities.
Criterion supplied custom feature panels for the dynamic stairway in addition to the internal aluminium glazing suite, and aluminium doors and door frames.
