Durra Panel was used to fast track the construction of a new sound stage at Village Roadshow’s Movie World on the Gold Coast. Sound Stage 9 needed to be completed quickly to meet upcoming film productions.
Conventional building materials created a site safety issue with the 25-metre roof height; achieving the correct noise control and acoustic absorption would have been difficult for the studio.
Durra Panels along with Soundsorb absorptive facing were assembled on the ground and installed across the 3,716m² ceiling and upper wall areas using the Durra lifting frame.
The entire project required 40 lifts of 114m² to complete the roof/ceiling system, with the work completed in just 7 days including the installation on the roof decking.
Overall, the project used 6,500m² of Durra Panels and Durra steel sections.
