Steel is an environment-friendly construction material, with multiple benefits. Listing out the various benefits of building with steel, Dynamic Steel Frame explains how you can do your part for the environment by choosing a steel-framed home.
Steel framing is recyclable
Steel is a fully recyclable material, unlike many other building materials. The steel frame can be extracted from a steel frame structure when it is demolished at the end of its lifespan, and then recycled by melting the steel to create other steel products or even more steel framing.
Steel framing reduces site impact
Steel framing has a lightweight structure, especially the TRUECORE light gauge steel from Dynamic Steel Frame, which is also known for its design versatility and flexibility. Being light in weight, a steel frame can be erected with minimum impact to the site. Steel frame suspended flooring systems reduce the amount of earth that needs to be excavated on site, which is particularly advantageous when building on difficult, sloping or uneven ground.
Steel framing doesn’t require pest treatment
Being 100% termite-proof, steel doesn’t require any anti-pest treatment when used in framing. Chemicals used to treat building frames made from other materials are noxious and can pose both environmental and health risks if they contaminate the surrounding groundwater, earth or drains, while also contributing to Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) inside the house.
Also being inorganic, steel does not degrade like timber and other frames; steel frames can, therefore, last much longer without any need for replacement or repairs. Steel framing is immune to dry rot and internal warping, cracking, swelling and shrinking. For this reason, steel frames are extremely sustainable and durable.
