KingFlor KF70 steel flooring from Fielders Steel Roofing was installed throughout Stage 2 of the Adelaide Convention Centre redevelopment project. The $350 million project is expected to boost South Australia’s economy by more than $1.92 billion over the next 25 years, elevating Adelaide as a true competitor on the global conferencing and exhibition stage.
Stage 1 of the redevelopment project was completed in 2014 with Stage 2 involving the replacement of the original Plenary Building constructed in 1987 with the new East Building, which has a 3,500-seat state-of-the-art, world-class convention and exhibition space as its centrepiece.
Fielders was contracted by Lend Lease and Mitcon to supply over 6,000 square metres of KingFlor KF70 steel flooring throughout the development.
Chosen for this project due to its longer spanning capability compared to other steel decks on the market, KingFlor KF70 offers wider coverage, which not only saves on preparatory costs but also speeds up the installation.
The new East Building was officially opened in August 2017.
