The rebranding of ForestOne almost a year ago involved significant changes across the board. These included new product ranges, advanced brand partnerships, new ways of conducting business to benefit industry and a brand new head office.
Taking it from an empty industrial shell to a sustainable and functional space, the team behind this office has created something truly special. Meganite, a range of acrylic solid surfaces, played an important role in the design of the new ForestOne Head Office.
The Kitchen
The heart of the ForestOne office, this space had to be appropriate for both a showroom and a working office kitchen.
The kitchen not only serves the entire head office staff, but is also a place to entertain and welcome. A 115-square-metre space was set aside to accommodate the kitchen, which features an extra-large bench and island. Mt Carrara was chosen for all bench surfaces.
Island bench
Taking advantage of Mt Carrara’s extended sheet size range, three sheets, each measuring 3660 x 1220 x 12mm, were used to make the extra-large island. To create a thicker effect, the edges were built up to 45mm by using 33mm particleboard underneath and Mt Carrara inconspicuously joined to the top pieces. Ideal for creating built-up edges to any thickness, this technique was also used in the bathrooms.
The larger sheet sizes were ideal for the extra-large island as the joins could be minimised for that length. The veined pattern of Mt Carrara allowed the fabricators to mimic a single piece of marble, demonstrating Meganite's immense design possibilities.
The curved end of the island bench also highlights an option only possible because of Meganite's unique properties. The curve was created through thermoforming – a process of heating and then shaping the acrylic solid surface.
Kitchen bench
The fabricators at Individual Design and Construction created a kitchen bench that continuously curves into a stunning splashback. Not only is this a lovely design element, the coved finish eliminates grouts and simplifies cleaning.
Kitchen sinks
A statement Meganite kitchen bench would not be complete without a Cumulus sink. The kitchen bench is fitted with double Cumulus 530 sinks and the island bench is fitted with the Cumulus 700 sink. All stocked Cumulus sinks come in Snow White and are available in four different sizes.
The Bathrooms
Continuing with the green colour scheme used throughout the office, both male and female bathrooms feature Sage Terrazzo Meganite on the vanities. It was the obvious choice as the colour range was designed in-house along with the Salmon and Sapphire Terrazzos.
Similar to the kitchen bench, a 3660 x 760 x 12mm sheet was used for the bench, which has a built-up 45mm edge for a statement finish.
Meganite Zircon basins were used in both bathrooms. Each benchtop has been fitted with two basins and two paper towel disposal cut-outs.
The Meeting Room
Accessible through the ForestOne showroom, the casual meeting room was designed for collaboration and inspiration. Maintaining the theme of functional beauty, the space features wall linings that elevate the design, and also cut noise pollution.
The versatility of Meganite is what sets it apart from other materials. One half of a 3660 x 760 x 12mm sheet of Salmon Terrazzo was used to create a stylish yet functional meeting room table. The durability proven throughout the years by Meganite makes this solid surface range a fantastic choice for meeting, dining, coffee, and side tables.
