The BCA has recently made changes to the slip resistance requirements for internal timber stairs, causing concern among Australian architects, builders and stair manufacturers.
Revised requirements for domestic stairs prescribe a minimum slip resistance of R10 or P3, which can be difficult to achieve without significantly changing the appearance of the stairs.
Grip Guard Non Slip advises that the DuraGrip PU anti-slip sealer has been specially formulated to increase the slip resistance of floors. DuraGrip can be applied on timber stairs even after the stairs have been sealed with a traditional timber sealer.
The DuraGrip PU sealer utilises perfectly round glass beads to increase slip resistance without creating an abrasive texture that can be difficult to clean.
