Concelo, an integrated waste bin solution for kitchens from Hideaway Bins has been honoured with the prestigious international Red Dot design award. The New Zealand-designed and manufactured Concelo bin was one of more than 5,500 entries submitted from 55 countries, and was judged by an international jury panel of 40 experts.
The perfect kitchen waste solution for rubbish and recycling, Concelo is streamlined in both design and functionality. An outcome of seven years of research and development, Concelo has seen every element of the waste bin reengineered and tested to ensure it delivers both form and function expected from a premium kitchen appliance.
Going beyond merely looking and running like a kitchen drawer, Concelo’s design prioritises the homeowner’s needs and requirements, and represents a paradigm shift for a kitchen equipment that is used about 20 to 30 times a day.
Design highlights of the award-winning Concelo kitchen waste bin include a self-closing Active Lid and Clip ’n’ Clean trays, buckets and liner holders. The Active Lid, which is hidden from sight inside the cabinet, controls odours with its self-closing action, making the waste bin a true hands-free operation. The cleverly designed lid is synchronised with the opening and closing of the bin, and can be easily removed for cleaning with the push of a button.
Concelo’s Clip ’n’ Clean trays, buckets and liner holders are made from stain-resistant polypropylene. These bin elements can be removed effortlessly for cleaning and clipped back into position in seconds, eliminating potential dirt traps in difficult spaces.
Concelo has been thoughtfully designed to overcome the most common issues associated with a kitchen waste bin.
The all new Concelo range is distributed in Australia by Hafele, Nover and Galvin Hardware.
