The 5th annual Building Better Cities Summit will be hosted
by Housing Industry Association (HIA) in Sydney on Thursday 24 July, 2014.
The 2014 summit topic ‘Housing Australia – not in my street’ will
discuss the contentious issue of balancing the need for capital cities to
continue to grow while ensuring the amenity demands of existing residents are
maintained.
New housing developments will most likely come up in and around the cities;
however, there are significant roadblocks, including the reluctance from many
in the community to accept new developments in their neighbourhood.
Several speakers from around Australia, Canada and the US, including
former Sydney Lord Mayor Lucy Turnbull, RP Data Head of Research Tim Lawless
and HIA Chief Economist Harley Dale will be presenting at the summit.
The Building Better Cities Summit will be held at the Sofitel Sydney
Wentworth, Phillip Street, Sydney on Thursday, 24 July 2014, 9.00am to 4.00pm. Registration
begins at 8.30am.
