The Housing Industry Association announces the release of the inaugural edition of the ACI Construction Monitor by Australian Construction Insights (ACI). Providing unique insights and analysis of Australia’s non-residential construction industry, the ACI Construction Monitor places New South Wales at the top of the pedestal in this sector.
Dr Harley Dale, ACI Chief Economist explains that residential building activity has set records recently, particularly for construction of higher density housing in the east coast population centres. However, demand for non-residential construction work is still strong, especially in the commercial and engineering construction sectors.
The unique ranking of states and territories based on the sub-sectors of commercial and engineering construction places the Northern Territory at the top of the tree. However, ACI’s analysis identifies New South Wales as the best performing state jurisdiction for construction.
Dr Harley Dale added that the size of the NSW market makes this finding of economic significance to the entire Australian economy.
