At James Hardie, our business is about building a better future for all. We operate with a global mindset and ensure our business positively impacts households and our local communities in which we live and operate.
James Hardie is committed to helping everyday Australians, especially those who are struggling and living in housing stress. To help address the impacts of this cost-of-living crisis, James Hardie has partnered with CSP Architectural to subsidise product for Habitat for Humanity Victoria’s unique affordable housing program. Habitat for Humanity opens doors for vulnerable individuals to pursue affordable home ownership, offering a helping hand to lower-income families in need of a place to call their own.
Single mother, Storm and her two children faced an enormous struggle in their quest for a secure and stable living arrangement. The task of providing a roof over their heads was daunting, let alone creating a healthy space where her children could flourish and make cherished memories. However, everything changed when Storm discovered the exceptional affordable housing program offered by Habitat for Humanity Victoria. As a successful program applicant, Storm not only gained access to a manageable home loan, but also had the opportunity to contribute 500 hours of ‘sweat equity’ towards the construction of her own home.
In December 2022, Habitat for Humanity Victoria hosted its 69th House Handover ceremony, where Storm and her family received the keys to their new home in Yea, Victoria. Through our customer CSP Architectural, James Hardie contributed to Storm’s home by providing the exterior cladding, PrimeLine Weatherboard. PrimeLine is a durable range of 9mm thick weatherboards, which creates classic lines with the charm of timber. Being fibre cement, PrimeLine Weatherboard is resistant to warping and splitting, and tends to hold paint for longer, reducing the need to repaint as frequently as other traditional weatherboards.
Storm and her family have finally found solace and stability in a secure residence, putting an end to years of housing challenges and frequent relocations. Thanks to the invaluable assistance of Habitat for Humanity Victoria and its dedicated network of supporters, including James Hardie, Storm can now fulfil her children's dreams of having their own bedroom.
The building of Storm's family home is a remarkable endeavour made achievable through the immense generosity of a vast community of individuals and organisations. James Hardie’s subsidisation of the construction cost through product provision is complemented by the generosity of skilled volunteers, corporate teams, and community members.
