SAYFA Group collaborated with the installer, Suresafe Height Safety Solutions to provide a fit-for-purpose working at height solution for a state-of-the-art commercial office building in Canberra.
Situated at 68 Northbourne Avenue, Canberra’s Civic Quarter is an interconnected work precinct in Australia’s capital territory. Purpose designed to be Canberra’s leading sustainable corporate destination and workplace of the future, the $54M building combines striking architecture and business-class facilities with solid sustainability principles, making it the Capital’s premier office address.
Australian made rope access and height safety equipment to suit all user requirements
Suresafe Height Safety Solutions partnered with SAYFA Group to install both internal and external working at height system configurations, valued at about $200,000.
SAYFA Group’s RAPTOR rigid rail and RAPTOR rolling davit systems were extensively applied in this project for facade access and maintenance.
The installation was relatively complex and difficult due to the need to accommodate for the number of solar panels on the roof of the building. With solar being increasingly adopted by buildings, the need for both solar and working at height sectors to work cohesively is becoming increasing evident.
The Civic Quarter installation was carried out in two stages, with Stage 1 commencing in 2019 and Stage 2 being completed in recent months. Stage 2 involved input from SAYFA Group’s Customer Service Team, working with Suresafe Height Safety Solutions to design the atrium abseil layout plan and quote on the required facade access systems.
During the initial stage of the project, SAYFA's Design Team was called in to assist with a customised solution, which covered all aspects of worker safety. Due to the heavy maintenance requirements needed on a building with large glass facades and an intricate solar panel installation, the personnel had to be provided with user-friendly, easy-to-operate systems.
Stage 2 involved collaboration with the Customer Service team who produced detailed drawings of the RAPTOR rolling davit system to assist with production and installation.
RAPTOR Rope Access Davit Technical Drawing
The project features RAPTOR rigid rail in the building's atrium; RAPTOR needles, rails and rolling davits for facade access and maintenance; KOMBI platform systems, KATT rung ladders and ALTO step ladders for safe access in and around the building; and SENTRY guardrail and walkway systems for safe access on and around the building's roof. Additionally, VISTA fold down ladders were installed to provide internal roof access.
Particularly pleasing to the client was the subtle, almost invisible provision of the rope access RAPTOR davits and rigid rail.
