An under slab insulation product from Kingspan Insulation is offering builders a ‘one-fits-all’ solution to address the issue of rising electricity prices and the need for energy conservation.
According to the National Construction Code, all new dwellings, renovations and alterations in Victoria are required to comply with a minimum 6 Star Standard in their thermal performance. The 6 Star energy efficiency rating encompasses the entire building envelope, including roofs, walls, windows and floors.
Builders can now achieve a higher energy rating in their builds with the addition of Kingspan’s insulation solution. A recent study conducted by Graham Energy shows that Kingspan Kooltherm K3 Floorboard under slab insulation can help achieve a 6 Star Energy rating across different climate zones and most orientations without the need to change any other building specifications.
Most traditional waffle pod construction (R0.9) solutions reached the minimum regulatory compliance in only two of three climate zones tested. However, Kingspan Kooltherm K3 Floorboard 25mm insulation (R1.2) achieves compliance in all three zones.
National Specification Manager, Ross Baynham explains that their super high performance Kooltherm K3 closed cell phenolic insulation is the most advanced technology in its field, while requiring less space and labour than traditional underfloor waffle pods. While Kingspan’s 25mm board helps customers achieve the minimum 6 Star rating, their 30mm, 40mm and 50mm board options offer even greater flexibility with dwelling orientations.
Kingspan Kooltherm K3 Floorboards are produced in Australia and sold throughout the Australasian region.
