Knauf provided an efficient sound insulation solution for the new carsales.com.au head office in Victoria.

Daniel Haskell of Haskell Architects designed the new head office for carsales.com.au to provide a much improved work environment for the staff. The new office contains a games room, cafeteria, open plan office and 26 meeting rooms, all on a single 3000m² floor space.

However, the architect faced an acoustic challenge from the noise generated by 150 staff working, having lunch and playing table tennis in the workplace.

Haskell explained that they needed to achieve a very high sound rating so all areas of the floor were acoustically separate, particularly when the space was shared by staff playing billiards and table tennis in the games room, while meetings were conducted at the same time.

Haskell specified Knauf’s 13mm SoundShield plasterboards to achieve maximum sound insulation in the $2 million fitout because of its ‘high quality and reasonable price’. Michael Damchev, Director of Modern Melbourne Interiors who installed the plasterboard agreed that using SoundShield enabled them to achieve quality at a reasonable price.

Delivery of 22 tonnes of SoundShield acoustic plasterboards to a single storey involved using the Knauf SkyCrane truck and removal of a window.
