KONE Elevators was
named the 12th greenest company by leading American magazine
Newsweek.
A global leader in
the elevator and escalator industry, KONE was listed in the 2014 Newsweek Green
Ranking released by Newsweek and its research partner Corporate Knights Capital.
The green companies’
list is compiled on the basis of an evaluation conducted on the world’s largest
publicly traded companies using eight metrics that collectively provide a
transparent measurement of overall corporate environmental performance. KONE is
the only top 50 company representing the elevator and escalator industry.
The ranking brings
to light the position of some of the world’s biggest companies on issues such
as climate change, rising energy costs and water scarcity.
Elijah Wolfson,
senior editor at Newsweek explains that several world-leading companies have
come to realise the need to openly account for their environmental impact. The
goal of Newsweek’s Green Rankings is to encourage this type of accountability.
KONE is focused on
providing safe, environmentally efficient and responsible high-performance People
Flow solutions. This green transformation in their products and services is
suitably backed by KONE’s focus on minimising their environmental impact within
their operations.
