When it comes to paving for Councils, several elements must be considered. Littlehampton Bricks and Pavers has provided multiple paving projects for Councils in Australia and understands the needs and specific requirements necessary for these projects. From the start of your project to its successful completion, Littlehampton Bricks and Pavers will collaborate with you until you are delighted with your end paving outcomes.

Councils must follow specific regulations when sourcing a paving contractor specialised in municipal and institutional paving services. There are several vital points to consider to meet the expectations of residents.

Clay Pavers vs Concrete – What are the main factors to consider?

When choosing the suitable paving material, one cannot specially compare the two; however, we can elaborate more on each to help you make the right choice.

Many Councils prefer to use clay pavers instead of concrete in walkway areas as a quality clay paver will last much longer than a concrete paver and requires no maintenance; however, it can be more expensive to purchase at first.

Another reason for the preference is that natural clay products will keep their colour forever, unlike tinted concrete pavers. Concrete pavers are coloured with various artificial additives, but they have a long history of colour leaching, turning ‘grey’, while clay pavers never fade.

Our clay pavers are perfectly designed and best suited for footpaths and light traffic. They are made to last much longer than cement and look good forever. These clay pavers are fired at over 1100 degrees Celsius, adding to their longevity and strength.

It’s no wonder they are still finding pots made from clay in pyramids after thousands of years!

Councils may choose clay for aesthetics and longevity, as clay pavers are designed to last and look better than concrete.

Clay products are also environment-friendly, weather-resistant, and stain-resistant, and they have a lifespan many times that of alternative products.

Why Councils use paving as their first choice

Councils use pavers on streetscapes to beautify the footpaths and accentuate areas. Pavers are diverse and recommended to be utilised on footpaths and light-traffic roads. With the overwhelming benefits of pavers, you can’t go wrong with choosing pavers over any other material. Some factors to consider when choosing paving for your Council project include:

Easy Installation

Paving doesn’t require expensive speciality equipment as concrete surfaces do. Once the pavers are in place, they are filled and compacted into a solid and durable surface. With a well-done and firm base, pavers are durable enough to accommodate vehicle and foot traffic once set.

Durability and Weather Resistance

Clay pavers are extremely strong and will never fade. Pavers are more durable to sun, heat and weather conditions that tend to damage concrete. Your clay pavers have a lifespan of up to 100 years and can still maintain their original colour.

Sustainability

Our pavers are made from environment-friendly materials and processes aiming to reduce carbon footprint through green energy sources such as solar; also, all our bricks are fired using recycled waste oil. We recycle the heat from the main kiln to dry and pre-heat the bricks before firing them, and we hand-grade each product, so every brick that is sent out is good for us – no wastage. All those processes help us to reduce the amount of waste in the system.

Drainage

Pavers are perfect for drainage. Many Councils turn to pavers to help drain the excess water, prevent overflow in public areas, and keep the undersoil moisture healthy for the environment.

Environment-friendly

The pavers produced by Littlehampton Bricks and Pavers are made from natural clay and water. They are fired at more than 1100 degrees Celsius, making them slip- and fade-resistant, strong enough to be used in heavy load areas, and easy to maintain. Cleaning requires mild detergent and a little scrubbing, but in most cases, they can just be hosed down or swept clean. Furthermore, as no chemicals are used during manufacturing, the pavers are recyclable and environment-friendly. Better yet, the kilns are fuelled by recycled waste oil and the Littlehampton Bricks and Pavers factory is powered by solar panels.
