Lysaght, Australia’s leading steel building products manufacturer, is looking for outstanding architectural work that incorporates LYSAGHT® steel building products with the launch of the inaugural Lysaght Design Inspiration Awards.
The overall winner of Awards will receive a trip for two to Amsterdam in November to attend the 2018 World Architecture Forum.
Online entries are now open at www.lysaghtinspirations.com and will be accepted up to September 30 2018.
Matt Lloyde, Lysaght’s National Manager Innovation and Marketing explained the inspiration behind the awards.
“Our LYSAGHT® range of products have been an iconic element of the Australian landscape for over 150 years and are now being used to create iconic structures of the future. These awards aim to identify and recognise the exceptional architecture being created using Lysaght products,” he said.
“Members of our team work closely with architects and designers - from the earliest design stages where comprehensive product solutions are sought, in meetings where specifications are challenged, and throughout projects to ensure we deliver on every detail of a design vision.
“We know the talent and passion that is poured into the projects we support and, with the Lysaght Design Inspiration Awards, we wish to acknowledge it.”
Before the major award is decided, the projects will be evaluated in five categories:
- Commercial Projects (office, retail, warehouse, education and institutions),
- Industrial Buildings (factories, processing facilities and agricultural),
- Residential Projects (houses, villas, apartments, aged care and similar facilities),
- ZENITH™ Projects (structures utilising products from the new LYSAGHT ZENITH™ range of architectural cladding), and
- Heritage/Restoration Projects (refurbishment of existing building and structures)
Each category winner will receive a $2,000 cash prize and the winning project will feature in the next edition of the Lysaght publication, Design Inspiration. (Where applicable, this will include acknowledgement of the winner and their company).
The category winners will then be in the running for the main prize, the ‘Lysaght Design Inspirations Award’. As mentioned, the winner of this award will be off to Amsterdam. The prize includes Premium Economy flights for two to Amsterdam, Premium attendance Packages for the festival and seven nights’ accommodation. On top of that, the winning project will feature on the cover of Design Inspiration. (Where applicable, this will include acknowledgement of the winner and their company).
A panel of expert judges, including a practicing architect, an architecture/design lecturer, an architectural writer/commentator, and a Lysaght representative will decide the winning entries.
The Lysaght Design Inspiration Awards are open to all Australian architects, designers and building owners. Building projects, completed between January 1, 2013, and June 30, 2018, that clearly display a significant proportion of Lysaght steel building products are eligible to enter the competition.
