Perspex clear acrylic was used to create beautiful transparent walls at this year’s Summer Pavilion at London’s prestigious Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens.
Japanese architects Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa were commissioned to create the Summer Pavilion.
The transparent walls were created using Perspex clear acrylic in 20mm and 25mm thick sheets.
The Japanese architects were selected as part of an annual initiative by the Serpentine Gallery to commission designers or architects, who have not yet had their work shown in England to produce a temporary Summer Pavilion designed to house the main summer program of exhibitions and events.
The result was a beautiful, ethereal structure comprising of a curved, shaped and highly polished aluminium canopy roof, supported by tall slim columns and bound by partial and intermittent walls of Perspex clear acrylic.
The Pavilion was open during the summer months up to late autumn and was the venue for a number of exhibitions and events including a two-day poetry marathon.
Perspex acrylic sheets are suitable for any outdoor design and are made tough to handle all environmental conditions.
Perspex acrylic sheets come with a 10-year outdoors warranty and are available from Mitchell Plastics .
