Built to enhance medical facilities, improve patient access, and cater to the region’s growing population, the Campbelltown Hospital is not just an advanced medical facility; it is a central element of healthcare, designed with care and inclusivity in mind.

A crucial aspect of this vision was the integration of accessible features, including Moddex’s Assistrail disability handrails, installed at the northern entrance to improve patient and staff access. These essential safety components not only meet regulatory requirements but also improve the overall user experience for people of all abilities.

Benefits of Moddex products for Campbelltown Hospital Redevelopment

Moddex installed over 80 metres of our Assistrail AR20 handrails in powdercoated black at the hospital.

Taylor Construction’s priority was to minimise the disruption to the hospital operations and ensure the area remained closed for the shortest time possible. Moddex’s prefabricated handrails were manufactured offsite, providing a solution that met all compliance standards while allowing for rapid installation, thereby, significantly reducing the time spent on-site.

As Moddex Project Consultant, Gavin Pedersen explains, “Offsite manufacturing is key to saving time on site because it allows for the handrails to be ready for immediate installation, eliminating the need for on-site fabrication. This helps us meet tight deadlines and minimise disruption to any project.”

Additionally, the Moddex Assistrail system ensures accessibility for individuals of all abilities, fully complying with Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) regulations for ramps and stairways.

“The Moddex systems are designed to ensure that everyone, regardless of ability, can access spaces safely and comfortably. We pride ourselves on it,” Pedersen adds.

Our Assistrail handrails are designed for smooth, continuous hand gliding, featuring ergonomic connectors and adjustable top rail fittings that are seamlessly connected underneath the handrail. Unlike traditional connectors that protrude from the rail, the Moddex ergonomic connector’s thinner-diameter form reduces the risk of users losing their grip – making them ideal for the visually impaired.

With a focus on inclusivity and safety, Moddex’s handrail and balustrade systems align perfectly with Campbelltown Hospital’s mission of improving healthcare access for the growing community, and our products are able to help do that with an extra touch of safety.
