Moddex supplied and installed bikeway barriers and disability handrails for the Clyde Road Berwick project to enhance safety for pedestrians and cyclists.
Completed in 2022, the Clyde Road Berwick project is part of the Victorian Government’s Level Crossing Removal Project, which plans to remove 110 dangerous and congested level crossings across Melbourne by 2030.
The Clyde Road Level Crossing and boom-gate, located on the Pakenham rail line, were removed and replaced with a rail bridge and road underpass. This has drastically improved safety for road users, pedestrians, and cyclists, while reducing congestion and improving travel times for trains and motorists.
Moddex was engaged by Fulton Hogan – Metropolitan Roads Program Alliance (MRPA), for the supply and installation of 340 metres of Bikesafe bikeway barriers (BS40) as a compliant aspect of the shared pathway for pedestrians and cyclists. Additionally, Moddex supplied and installed Assistrail disability handrails (AR40, AR20) at sections of the footpath that required compliance with AS1428, DDA and NZS 4121:2001.

As part of this ongoing effort, we have developed our exclusive Bridgerail barrier system, which complies with the latest bridge construction regulations in Australia and New Zealand, including AS5100.2 Clause 12.5 and the NZTA Bridge Manual Clause B6.4.
