How our team building event brought our core values to life
The sun was shining, and the energy was unmistakable as the entire company came together for a two-day team building event. From our interstate branches to our Kiwi counterparts, everyone was present, ready to embrace our core values in action.
Day 1: Team building fun.
The day kicked off with a series of survivor team building challenges organised by Banana Life. Each challenge was designed not just for fun, but to push us to our limits and encourage teamwork. As we navigated unique physical challenges, solved puzzles, and strategised our way through various tasks, it was evident that we were living our value of ‘stare down the challenges’. Every challenge thrown our way was met with determination, resilience, and a lot of laughter.
In the afternoon, the ModSquad culture team took over with initiatives that truly embodied ‘work hard & have fun’. The darts competition was a hit, with everyone backing their favourite in the showdown between our finalist from WA and NSW as they madly battled it out to hit the bullseye. But it wasn’t just about the game; it was about camaraderie, friendly competition, and celebrating each other’s successes.
The recipe book initiative was another highlight. Sharing our favourite recipes gave us a glimpse into each other’s cultures, traditions, and memories. It was a beautiful reminder that while we are a diverse group, we are ‘one winning team’.
The day concluded with peer-nominated company awards. Recognising and celebrating the hard work and achievements of our colleagues was a testament to our value of ‘own it & do it’. It was heart-warming to see the genuine appreciation and respect we have for each other.
Day 2: Learning together as one winning team.
The second day was all about the future – our company’s vision, insights from the market and key milestones we would need to meet over the next one to five years. As we delved into the company’s brand, it was clear that making our customers smile is at the heart of everything we do.
A significant part of the day was dedicated to financial literacy. Through an open book approach, we reviewed the company’s financials across the past three years. This transparent approach not only empowered us with knowledge but also instilled a sense of ownership. As we brainstormed at a departmental level, ideas flowed on how we could influence and improve our financial trajectory across the next year and beyond. This session truly epitomised ‘own it & do it’.
Networking was a significant component of the two days. The speed networking session, facilitated using giant dice, was both fun and random. It gave us the opportunity to connect, understand each other’s roles, and learn about one another beyond the confines of the office.
Conclusion
As the event came to a close, there was a unanimous feeling of gratitude, pride, and excitement for the future. These two days were not just about team building; they reflected who we are as a company. We work hard, face challenges head-on, take ownership, function as one cohesive unit, and always strive to make our customers smile.
Here’s to many more years of living our core values and achieving greatness together!
