Soccer goals from PILA group® have been installed at the Hunter Stadium in Newcastle, one of the venues for the 2015 Asian Cup.

Next year’s Asian Cup is an outstanding opportunity to showcase Australia as a world-class host for major sporting events with 45,000 international visitors expected along with live television coverage viewed by millions globally. In a huge coup for regional Australia, Newcastle’s Hunter Stadium has been selected as one of the five venues, and the only NSW venue aside from Sydney. Newcastle will host four of the 32 matches, including the second semi-final and the 3rd Vs. 4th play-off, with the final to be played at Stadium Australia in Sydney.

Venues NSW Chair John Quayle is confident that Hunter Stadium will ensure fans experience and enjoy their world class facilities during the Asian Cup.

Frank Lowy AC Chairman of the Local Organising Committee AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 stated he was particularly pleased to see the tournament branch out to one of Australia’s best regional cities as the whole greater Hunter region is a strong football heartland.

NSW Minister for Sport Graham Annesley said that successive FIFA World Cup campaigns have positioned Australia on the world football stage; he is therefore confident both Stadium Australia and Newcastle Stadium will ensure fans enjoy these world class facilities during the Asian Cup.

Hunter Stadium has recently undergone a major upgrade increasing its capacity to 33,000 with the state-of-the-art $81 million Western Grandstand completed in 2011. The new stand has all the features expected of an elite level stadium with corporate suites, media facilities, function rooms and player change rooms.

Hunter Stadium has also invested in PILA’s Soccer Stadium Pack with senior semi-permanent goal posts, free-hanging net supports and senior box nets. These international grade soccer goals are compliant with FFA, FIFA, European and Australian standards as required for competition level.
