Over the past 3 months, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA) on Sydney’s harbour foreshore at Circular Quay has been presenting The Hours: Visual Art of Contemporary Latin America.

As part of this exhibition, PILA group supplied thirty 7.5m fibreglass flagpoles to fly national flags from all over the world in a greyscale form.

As the exhibition was only open for a short period, the artist and the MCA required a flagpole system that would allow easy installation and removal with as little impact to the surface as possible.

PILA group utilised their ground screw system to complete this project. Once the flagpoles were removed, all that was left was a small hole that can be easily filled with soil: no concrete footings required.

Tapered fibreglass flagpoles were the chosen design as they are lightweight for easy installation as well as being non-conductive to electricity and presenting a safe environment. Aside from these benefits, tapered fibreglass flagpoles are aesthetically pleasing flagpoles with their streamline shape and gloss white gel-coat finish.
