World-leading goal post supplier PILA group® provides a few pointers to the correct placement of goal posts for a rugby league field.
Any rugby league field must be clearly marked and precisely measured to ensure a fair game for all. This includes positioning the goal posts accurately.
Height
NRL goal posts for a senior level game are 15m in height; however, they are considered to extend indefinitely upwards for the purpose of scoring.
Width
The goal posts are positioned 5.5m apart from inside to inside of the uprights.
Crossbar
The top of the crossbar is 3m off the ground.
Padding
It is important to pad the bottom two metres of the goal posts.
Field
The field measures 100m in length and 68m in width, with the centre of the goal posts/crossbar at 34m from the touchline on either side along the goal line.
In-Goal Area
Measuring 68m wide by 8m long, the in-goal area is the space directly behind the goal posts.
PILA manufactures and supplies some of the safest NRL goal posts for sport and play. Installing the best rugby league goal posts in the correct positions will result in a safer playing field for the teams.
