Polyflor flooring products were specified for the newly built Clayton Community Aged Care Facility located in Melbourne to deliver safety, comfort and aesthetics.
The latest addition to the Innovative Care network, the Clayton Community Aged Care Facility is an architecturally designed three-storey home featuring a residential ambience. Offering low care, high care and dementia support care, the facility accommodates 150 residents, each with their own bedroom and ensuite bathroom.
Innovative Care director Sandi Croft explained that staff and resident comfort and safety were prioritised when the facility was being developed; this design intent is reflected in the choice of fittings and flooring. Apart from carpet in the lounges and hallways, Innovative Care's architect specified Polyflor flooring products in all the rooms.
Polyflor Forest FX, a timber look sheet vinyl flooring in authentic timber reproductions achieves a polished wood floor effect in the bedrooms. American Oak has been used in this application. Forest FX is a vinyl sheet collection specifically developed for very heavy duty commercial installations, and will cope with wheelchairs and trolleys. The flooring is reinforced with polyurethane for improved cleaning and maintenance.
Polyflor’s Polysafe Vogue Ultra, a safety flooring specifically designed for wet use areas in healthcare, has been selected for the ensuites. Featuring a wet pendulum slip rating of 36 RRL or greater, Polysafe Vogue Ultra used in this application has the Bisque colourway, combining cream, brown and dark grey flecks.
The dining rooms feature Polyflor Expona Superplank, a luxury vinyl tile in a warm honey oak timber. Also used in the nurses' stations, this flooring comes in authentic wood designs with realistic surface textures, and is suitable for very light commercial and residential situations. Capable of taking the wear of trolleys and wheelchairs, the flooring has a polyurethane surface treatment to assist ongoing maintenance.
Both the kitchen and laundry are fitted with Polysafe Ultima in the Mortar colourway. This Polyflor product is a heavy-duty safety flooring with enhanced slip resistance, achieving 40 RRL or greater with the wet pendulum test. The 2.5mm thick vinyl is designed for use in heavy-duty and intense footfall areas such as commercial kitchens where risk of high viscosity contamination is present.
