Two products from Robertson's Building Products Pty Ltd were installed during the redevelopment of the old Castlemaine Police Station in Castlemaine, Victoria.
Located on the corner of Hargraves and Templeton Streets, the $12 million project upgraded, refurbished and extended the original heritage building housing Castlemaine’s police force from 1921 to 1977. Completed in October 2014, this functional, contemporary square building fits right in with the style and heritage of the buildings in the neighbourhood, meeting the primary objective of the redevelopment.
A brick inlay system and brick facing tiles from Robertson Facade Systems were used to blend the old with the new, with the materials cleverly and seamlessly creating stunning, functional designs.
Payne Pattenden Architects specified a concrete precast to construct the building, using Robertson Facade Systems’ brick inlay system with Rustic Red Brick Blend brick facing tiles. This provided a natural clay finish for the police station’s external walls, blending with the surrounding heritage buildings.
