The Salto Homelok and Salto KS mobile applications have, again, achieved the Mobile Application Security Assessment (MASA) certification. The MASA certification allows Salto to provide secure, compliant Android platform mobile applications for Salto smart access users and system operators. The MASA certification helps system operators and users meet security needs through a standardised, repeatable, and transparent process for assessing the security of mobile applications.

"Security certifications and audits are a proactive defence to ensure that our solutions meet stringent security requirements. In this particular instance, Google's MASA certification demonstrates our commitment to robust security practices in our mobile applications and a proactive strategy towards the security of our customers,” said Ane Uncetabarrenechea, Chief Information Security Officer, Salto Systems.

What is MASA?

MASA is an industry-led collaboration to improve application security through third-party security assessments based on industry standards. Via the MASA program, Google recognises mobile developers who have had their applications independently validated against a set of security best practices for the Android platform. Salto has passed the review through a certified security laboratory specialised in pen testing called ‘Dekra’. This is done by cybersecurity experts who use the latest penetration testing methodologies to try to find the weakest spot in networks. By identifying weaknesses at an early stage, it is easier to alleviate future complications. The goal of passing these ‘pen-tests’ is to ensure safety in Google Play and the Android ecosystem, and provide consumers with more transparency and an overall secure feeling when using the app.

“We are happy and proud that we have achieved the certification. Security is an important topic for us, and the certification is one of the many ways we validate that our security policies and development guidelines are implemented properly for our products,” said Hugo Lindén, Information Security Officer, Salto Systems.

MASA testing and certification for Salto

MASA reduces risks, identifies and tests potential vulnerabilities, and examines software to ensure that the Salto KS and Homelok mobile applications meet adequate security compliance.

MASA certification

Additional benefits are:

  • Independent third-party validation
  • Identify key vulnerabilities
  • Highest commitment to security and privacy
  • Actively shape the safety of the Android ecosystem

Achieving the MASA certification proves that Salto is leading in mobile access application security. Salto works to protect partners and customers with the most advanced security and put much effort into implementing best-in-class security standards to keep any building safe.
