SAS International has become one of the first metal ceiling manufacturers to be awarded full Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Certified® Version 4.0 accreditation, covering their Bridgend factory and more than 75% of their product range.

This achievement provides the perfect framework to demonstrate leadership on protecting the environment, safeguarding social fairness, and becoming part of a circular economy.

Circularity is an essential sustainability ambition. Buildings and their construction account for 39% of global emissions and at least 30% of global waste, both recycling and landfill. To meet global net zero goals and reduce impact on the environment, the entire construction supply chain needs to significantly lower emissions and become circular, with products designed to use less material, last longer, and be refurbished or reused.

“SAS International achieving version C2C Certified Version 4.0 represents their pioneering ambition and establishes them as leaders in transforming the construction market,” said Ana Quintas, Lead Built Environment, Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute. “Cradle to Cradle Certified is the world’s most advanced science-based standard. We certify over 30,000 products across different sectors, and the built environment is one of our strongest and biggest. It represents over 80% of our certified products, and the main region where we see growth is in Europe.”

Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze

We have achieved Bronze level certification to cover not only the majority of our products but also the manufacturing and procurement processes. This is unique because Version 4.0 is the most ambitious and actionable global standard yet. Setting even stricter requirements than Version 3.1, Cradle to Cradle Certified principles are to be implemented in our end-to-end manufacturing process as well as our products.

“We are thrilled to announce our latest milestone on our journey towards sustainability excellence. This accreditation signifies a significant leap forward within the ceiling industry. Our submission process was exhaustive, reflecting our unwavering commitment to sustainability and setting a strong precedent for our future growth. Cradle to Cradle Certified perfectly mirrors our core company values, which include a profound focus on sustainability, transparency, wellbeing and inspiration. This achievement serves as a testament to our dedication to sustainability and is recognised by esteemed bodies such as LEED, WELL, and Green Star Australia,” said SAS International CEO Alyn Gammon.

“For our clients, this accomplishment underscores our unyielding pledge to sustainable practices. We are now not just a trusted supplier, but an independently verified one, offering a range of sustainable ceiling products that empower our clients to make environmentally responsible choices.”
